Transfers and tokens get a boost

The biggest quality-of-life change sits in squad management. Free transfers have doubled, from 1 to 2 per round, and unused transfers now stack up to a maximum of 5. That gives managers real flexibility to bank moves during quiet rounds and unload them when a fixture swing or injury crisis demands a squad rebuild.

The Quick Fix token has also been boosted, rising from 1 to 2 uses per season, bringing it in line with Rebuild Squad. Fewer forced compromises, more room to correct a bad gameweek without burning your whole strategy.

Scoring rules that reward different things

Several scoring tweaks change what actually earns points on the Sofascore Fantasy platform this season:

• Clearances: 6 clearances now equal 1 point, with an extra point for every additional 6 (12 clearances = 2 points). Ball-playing defenders who rack up clean interventions finally get rewarded for it.
• Passing: no longer scores points for defenders. Volume passing alone won’t carry your backline anymore.
• Dispossessed: the threshold for the -1 point penalty rises from 3 to 4, giving attacking players a bit more breathing room before they’re punished for losing the ball.
• Punches and high claims: the threshold moves from 2 to 3, a small adjustment that slightly tightens goalkeeper scoring.
• Successful dribbles: now 3 dribbles equal 1 point, up from just 1 dribble per point. Explosive wingers will need genuine end product, not just flair on the ball.

Taken together, these changes shift value away from pure volume stats and toward end-product and defensive substance. Building a squad now means reading the fine print, not just chasing big names.

Seven leagues live, four UEFA competitions still to come

Sofascore Fantasy already covers seven leagues that have kicked off their 2026/27 campaigns: Liga 1 Peru, the HNL, LaLiga, the Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, and the Bundesliga. Managers across all of them are already making transfer calls and captaincy picks.

Four UEFA competitions are joining the platform next. Sofascore Fantasy opens for the UEFA Champions League on 31 August, followed by the UEFA Europa League on 4 September, the UEFA Nations League on 18 September, and the UEFA Conference League on 5 October.

Of the four, the Champions League is the one carrying the highest expectations once it goes live in Fantasy. It’s the competition with the deepest talent pool, the widest audience, and historically the format where fantasy managers get the most rewarding highs, and the most painful blanks.
