Flamengo is in the running for the Best Men’s Club of the Year award at the 2026 Ballon d’Or. The Rubro-negro is the only team outside Europe among the nominees. The other clubs selected by France Football magazine, which organizes the honor, are Arsenal, PSG, Bayern Munich, and Bodo/Glimt.

Flamengo’s nomination is due to a spectacular 2025, in which the club won its third Copa Libertadores title in six years. In addition, the Gávea side, led by Filipe Luís, now at Monaco, also lifted the Brazilian Championship and the Carioca title.

Speaking of coaches, France Football also revealed the nominees for the Best Men’s Coach of the Year award. The list stands out for its strong Spanish presence: four out of five candidates are from Spain.

Luis de la Fuente, who led Spain to the World Cup title, Mikel Arteta, who secured Arsenal’s first Premier League title in years, Unai Emery, who won the Europa League with Aston Villa, and Luis Enrique, two-time Champions League winner with PSG, are all in the running for the award.

Belgian Vincent Kompany of Bayern Munich is the only foreigner among the five nominees. The winners in each category will be announced during the Ballon d’Or ceremony, scheduled for October 26 in London.
